Slavoj Žižek on Holy Spirit Community and Cures in Time of Contagion
Slavoj Žižek, the beloved Communist philosopher, joins David Gornoski, son of a preacher and founder of A Neighbor’s Choice, to discuss how Holy Spirit community can coordinate solutions in the worldwide contagion. Among the topics explored are markets vs. force as well as the problem with government regulatory agencies and intellectual property.
Whilst speaking of community, the Hegelian superstar extends the unifying aspect of the Holy Spirit to world solidarity, especially in these times of increasing isolation.
“International cooperation is absolutely crucial in matters of health,” Žižek argues. In response, David Gornoski brings up the issue of the patenting system blocking potential cures for the COVID-19 virus. Can common ground be found between a Marxist and a Christian voluntarist?
“… Not centralization but we need global coordination. Let’s say one of these independent labs or scientists invent something and it works, I want it to be known all around the world!”
How can one find a cure except through the space of voluntary order, not state force? How do FDA and state-decreed patents distort medicine and science? Watch the entire interview for the answers and more.
